Egypt Otis offers a range of archival services grounded in cultural care, accessibility, and historical preservation. Her work centers Black memory and community storytelling—bridging traditional archival practice with grassroots needs. Egypt supports individuals, artists, families, institutions, and community organizations in preserving their histories with integrity and intention.

Audio Preservation & Digitization
Specializing in obsolete and at-risk formats (cassette, reel-to-reel, vinyl), Egypt digitizes and preserves sound recordings while maintaining historical context and sound quality. For institutions and individuals

Oral History Recording & Training
Egypt facilitates oral history projects—from designing interview questions to recording, transcribing, and archiving. She also offers training for those looking to collect and preserve stories in their own communities.

Community-Based Archiving
Egypt provides consulting and hands-on support for grassroots archiving projects. This includes guidance on organizing personal or organizational archives, developing metadata, storage planning, and creating access tools.

Archival Workshops & Public Programs
Tailored workshops for schools, libraries, nonprofits, and collectives focused on topics such as: “Intro to Community Archives,” “Preserving Audio as Resistance,” and “Archiving Everyday Black Life.”

Curation & Interpretation
Assistance with interpreting and exhibiting archival materials for public engagement, digital platforms, and storytelling projects—including pop-up exhibits, zines, and soundscapes.

Rare & Out-of-Print Book Curation
Drawing on Egypt’s experience as a bookseller and cultural curator, she helps identify and source rare, out-of-print, and radical Black literature to strengthen private and community-based collections.
